Announcement re Communiweb during the Sunday Church Service RUTH - Please Note! LANIE - THIS SUN - will summarize current developments, ask if anyone would like to join the group as we have or will soon have lost 4 members. SCOTT - following Sunday - will discuss church committee use of the web- illustrated by "buildings and grounds" effective use. 1. Terri has new office software which includes an upgrade for PageMaker 7.0 but not the full version. SCOTT - will look into finding a used "full version" to install. 2. Communigram and Calendar onto the web - HIGH PRIORITY SCOTT - will work with TERRI on this. POLICY? only names but not telephone numbers given in the Communigram unless the person specifically requests this. RUTH - does the church council want to take up this policy? 3. Staff Page - update with Michael Mulberry's info as it becomes available, in the meantime, put up what Terri had suggested. TOM and DAVID S. - will take care of this and getting the still-missing staff photos. 4. Religious Ed - (TOM WATEMBACH), temporarily being updated by Lanie LANIE - will update it with the schedule of teachers, rooms, etc. that Terri provided. LANIE - will add a section on the Heifer-book project and add photo she took of the poster-stack of books by sanctuary door. TERRI or TOM W. - write one-paragraph describing Heifer project and email it to Lanie. SCOTT - will check with Karen if she has photos for the Arts Camp and ask Bob Smith if he could email one-paragraph writeup for us. Give info to Lanie. 5. CurrentEvents and PastEvents (incl. Sermon Schedule for Fall) LANIE - will update these on a regular basis - from reading the Communigram or being emailed "timely" input from Terri. LANIE - will include a link to Upcoming Sermon Schedule through Nov 9 and create this schedule from the list provided by Terri. 6. Sermons - archiving DAVID G. - will pursue how we archive sermons format - all put into pdf (which allows copyright)? eventually allow for searches on date, topic, (preacher) 7. Activities DAVID G. - under current menu, include Fireside Dinners as well as Springside Dinners or else replace the latter. 8. Hidden directories In looking at the current and proposed revisions to the menu buttons on the left panel of each web page, it was thought by some that newcomers might be turned off to find the word "committees" - better to bury that in the description of the "church leadership". However, when Scott was describing how his buildings and grounds does all its work now by email and the use of a spread sheet re building work that needs to be done, by whom, status, etc. we were impressed. Scott has a hidden directory devoted to buildings and grounds. I'm asking David G. to put a higher directory called committees under which the buildings and grounds directory can be put, we can add one for communiweb, and others as different committees find it useful. 9. Main Menu items and subitems - think of Communiweb as a brochure for newcomers! We discussed Terri's proposed division of items and modified them as shown below (if I got it straight). Reduced from 6 to 5 main topics.
