Changing Membership B. Logins and Passwords C. on-line Communigram D. Site Index E. Photo-Gallery F. Calendar G. on-line audio Service/Sermons H. New Web Pages I. Searchable Database ====================================== *** Once you make some progress on your task, please inform the rest of us by email - letting us know that some old communigrams are on-line, to view a sample calendar or the new photo-gallery layout. A. Changing Membership We welcome new Community UCC members who have joined Communiweb: Donald and Tei Barnhart and Charles Gammie. We say thank you and goodbye to three members: Terri Peppers who will be leaving sometime this summer for new pastures Kevin Rockmann who starts a new job at George Mason U. in VA in August David Schowalter who will turn over the UCF representation to Susan Requa David will still be at UI just studying harder :-) B. Logins and Passwords David Gerstenecker deals with the Webeasel logins and passwords: Donald and Tei Barnhart, Charles Gammie, cucc-office (for Cindy Dodd), and eventually Susan Requa (to replace Kevin Rockmann) need them. By September, David G. may remove the logins for Terri Pepper, Kevin Rockmann, and David Schowalter. C. on-line Communigram Kevin Rockmann - has spearheaded this effort. He will convert the existing Communigrams in 2004 to pdf format, include the announcement** (below), and upload to the Communiweb site. Scott Bush and David Gerstenecker - will work together to get both acrobat and filemaker installed on the new office Dell computer. Cindy Dodd is using Microsoft Publisher to create the Communigram; she will need acrobat to output the Communigram in pdf format. Tom Ward - will take over from Kevin regarding teaching Cindy Dodd (Cindy Dodd) and writing instructions for the office staff on preparing communigram to go on-line (remove contact info, substitute as needed church email and phone no., and put in pdf format) and how to use Webeasel to move existing Communigram to the archive directory & upload the new "current Communigram". **Announcement to include in the Communigram (through August 2004?) The Communigram is now available on-line; note that contact phone numbers and emails (other than those for the church) will not be included in the on-line version unless specifically requested. D. Site Index - now exists on the web, thanks to Kevin Rockmann EVERYONE - who adds a new subdirectory under the main menu items is responsible for updating the Site Index with same info. [www.community-ucc.org/Site_Index/siteindex.html] E. Photo-Gallery Rick Langendorf (consulting with David Gerstenecker) - set up new photo-gallery template Lanie Dickel - then redoes the main photo-gallery page with this template [www.community-ucc.org/photo_gallery/index.html] EVERYONE - view main photo-gallery page once it is converted. Lanie Dickel, Tei Barnhart & Donald Barnhart - will meet to go over webeasel and to coordinate gradually replacing each of the photo-gallery subpages by creating new ones using the new photo-gallery template. Once that is done, Tei and Donald will take over maintaining the Photo-Gallery. F. Calendar Charles Gammie - will experiment with the webeasel calendar feature and see whether he can create a sample calendar (for one month) which one could look at via (the day?) week or by the month - similar to what Grace Lutheran Church has: http://www.gracelutherancu.org/ except we'd like the list of entries to include time event place where place might be a room code - P for parlor, S for sanctuary, FH for Fellowship Hall, etc. EVERYONE - view/critique the sample calendar once Charles lets us know its URL. G. on-line audio Service/Sermons Pastor Mike Mulberry - attended the meeting and when we mentioned having a Pastor's Corner which would include sermons, he asked whether it was possible to have audio sermons. The church is about to purchase a new sound system for the Sanctuary and he wondered whether his sermons could be recorded and uploaded to the website. If this worked, then audio descriptions of upcoming Sunday adult classes could be considered also. Discussion - a digital recording device should be included in the purchase of the sound system, or if not now, be sure that the new sound system is compatible so a recording device can be added in the future. - could we do live audio on the web during each Sunday service? then just save the (audio) sermon portion on the web - space on the web-server may get filled - might only be able to keep one sermon up at a time? or after certain period of time, move a bunch of them to store off-line? or buy more space? currently we pay 100 MBytes @$35/year (which is a bargain) Donald Barnhart - will contact Pastor Mike re being sure that the sound system can be connected to a digital recorder, etc. H. New Web Pages Lanie Dickel - will coordinate getting new information on the web, specifically contacting chairs of different groups to provide content, and then if they don't have someone capable (of learning) to create a webeasel page, then EVERYONE - will be asked to do one such page. David Gerstenecker - will find the people in Program and Mission Basic Procedure - follows example of Men's Fellowship under Who We Are 0. provide a name - Men's Fellowship 1. create a directory - men_fellowship 2. create a page - index.html 3. provide the title in upper right corner of page - Men's Fellowship 4. typically two paragraphs - brief description of group/topic/event/organization possibly with link to outside organization - contact information and/or how someone might get involved, photo(s) if available/desireable. Under Menu to be created by Pages Who We Are Lanie Dickel - CUCC Leadership (& Ruth Gilbert) Deacons (& Pastor) - Theology Mike Mulberry - Pastor's Corner (under which eventually are audio sermons) Community Involvement Women's Fellowship - Times Center, - Meals on Wheels Program & Mission - Food Pantry/Empty Tomb, - Habitat for Humanity (ask Scott Bush for photos of Frieda Wascher House), - MLKing Jr. Advocacy for Justice Committee (scholarships) "stuff" group - Charitable Donations When & Where Deacons (& Pastor) - Baptisms & Marriages, - later: Holidays & special Services I. Searchable Database Need - The "stuff" group is compiling a list of charities that take donations - with their location, contact info, hours, what they take, what they don't take, pick-up? etc. - Ken Gilbert created a "virtual loan closet" with info re various items and who has them and is willing to loan them Discussion - David Gerstenecker says that it would be possible to have a searchable database which is accessible by webeasel (probably done in "php"). It would take programming time to setup. Although the entry page would be different for each database, the structure of the database and the search technique might be able to be designed so that it could be used on several different databases. Besides the two databases identified above, there might be similar ones in the future. Decision - defer this until the Fall when the "stuff" group may have its information ready for the web. Initially, we can put up a list in alphabetical order by name of the charity with the relevant information in a standard format underneath each.
