Church School - Heifer ProjectCommunity UCC Church School is participating in the "kids 2 kids" campaign of
Heifer Internationalwhich provides goats and other livestock to families in need. The goats and cows give nutritious milk, which helps the children grow into healthy adults. The training these children receive not only keeps their animals healthy, it also develops skills which will sustain these children throughout their entire lives. The cost of a young, healthy doe, and the training to care for it is just $120. 2003 "Read to Feed" Project
During the summer and fall of 2003, church-school students were involved in a "Read to Feed" project to raise money for Heifer International. The congregation pledged money for the number of books that a child read. When the goal of 200 books is reached, the money they collected will be sent to the Heifer Project. The accompanying photo (from early September) shows that the goal will soon be met.
Check it out yourself by viewing the progress chart just inside the door to the Sanctuary and see how the stack of read books is growing! CONGRATULATIONS!! - to the students and their sponsors. The goal of 200 books was reached by Sunday October 19, 2003 with more than $1000 raised for Heifer International. What an incredible stacks of books! GOOD WORK! Postscript - the stack grew even higher with the final total of 287 books read! Some of the students who read the books are holding posters of the Heifer project in this photo.
