Special Congregational Meeting Sunday November 14, 2004
After six years of discussion, various meetings, special committee work, three church forums, and a Church Council retreat, we hope we have finally arrived at an interim polity proposal that is faithful to all the hard work done over the six years and to the vision God continues to share with Community United Church. We have done our best to meet with current committees and the congregation as a whole. At an all-church meeting after worship on Sunday, November 14, we will vote whether to suspend the current church constitution and carry forward with a vote on interim polity at our annual meeting in January. If we do vote to suspend the constitution on November 14, we do not want to seal off contribution, debate, and dialogue about an interim polity. We will need everyone's gifts as we consider whether to move on with this interim polity at our annual meeting in January. above are excerpts from cover letter mailed to members of Community United Church.
