Goal of committee The goal of the Health & Wellness committee is to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual health of the congregation. Health Care Seminar - April 30 & May 1, 2004Do you have concerns about U.S. health care, and wonder what you can do about the issues of availability, quality, cost and lack of preventive care? Persons of all faiths are invited to attend this Friday evening and all day Saturday seminar that will explore the facts of the U.S. Health care system from a faith-based perspective. Advance registration fee is $20 and will include a Saturday lunch. NOTE: Advance registration deadline has been extended to Wednesday, April 28, 2004. On-site registration is also available for $25.

religious education classes on health related topics based on interests and needs of the congregation. Topics offered have included:
- Depression
- Grief and Loss
- "Just Move" chair exercise program
- Addictive behaviors
- "Share the Care" caregiver program
- Alzheimer's disease
- Caregiver issues
- Complimentary Medicine
- Faithfully Fit
Past Activities
- Planned and participated in two healing services with the pastor for the congregation
- Purchased daily devotional guides for interested members and/or visitors (located at back of sanctuary)
- Participated in lighting of the Advent Wreath
- Participated in the worship service for Health and Welfare Sunday, addressing current health care concerns
- Served "healthy snacks" for fellowship hour
Ongoing Activities
- Monthly blood pressure screenings by the parish nurse
- "New driver blessings" for teens receiving their driver's license
- Individual counseling to church members with health concerns
- Inspirational messages in the Communigram (church newsletter)
- Bulletin board in the parlor for posting of health related information and health education opportunities in the community
